I have a Bachelor degree in English Studies and a Master’s degree in Education. At present, I am working as a high school teacher. I joined the PhD programme in English Studies at the University of Zaragoza. My main research interests are genre analysis and multimodality. I aim to understand digital genres of science and, in particular, how multimodal genres can today be used by scientists to make science accessible and attractive to non-expert audiences, and by the latter, to democratise the interests of scientific research.

I have a Bachelor in Translation and Interpretation from the University of Salamanca and a Master’s degree in International Commerce from Rey Juan Carlos University. I also did a Bachelor’s degree in Art and have published several journalistic genres in this field, along with a Master’s degree in Ancient World and Archaeological Heritage and a Master’s degree in Education, both at the University of Zaragoza. I have work experience in Pekin and Düsseldorf for over three years and have worked as an Associate Professor in the Department of English and German Philology. I joined the PhD programme in English Studies at the University of Zaragoza. My PhD focuses on digital genres that are used to give visibility and credibility to scientific research and, at the same time, to inform the lay public about issues of societal concern. I completed a Bachelor degree in English Studies in 2017 and a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics and TEFL in 2018. I have also recently completed a Master degree in Education (June 2019). In the first semester of 2017, I worked as an international cooperator (Beca Faro) at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Thailand. I have recently presented a paper entitled “English in the Linguistic Landscape of Thailand. A Case Study of Public Signs in Hat Yai” at the 11th Linguistic Landscape Workshop (XIScape2019) East meets West: Social Reflection and Integration. (XIScape2019), 4–6 June 2019, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. I joined the PhD Programme in English Studies at the University of Zaragoza and will soon start working on my PhD proposal on digital genres, science and society. I have started to work as a research assistant at the Department of English and German Studies (University of Zaragoza, Spain) under a grant funded by the Government of Aragon.

I am a research fellow at the Department of English and German Studies (University of Zaragoza), a position secured in September 2018 after being granted a national competitive research fellowship (FPU) financed by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. I am writing my PhD thesis on emerging digital academic genres under the supervision of Dr. María José Luzón. My main research interests include genre ecologies, academic writing and multimodality.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Research fellow (FPU*) at the Department of English and German Philology,  Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain.

My current interests are the role and status of English in the domain of academic communication. I am interested in the analysis of academic spoken genres (both established and emerging) for research communication purposes. In my PhD, I specifically look at genres both as texts and processes and my research seeks to describe phonological features of English as a Lingua Franca that characterise cross-cultural communication among native and nonnative English speakers in academic settings. Connected research interests are English phonetics and phonology, pronunciation teaching methodology and corpus linguistics.
